How Do Invisalign Clear Aligners Work?

The Invisalign system works on the same principles of teeth straightening as normal braces. However, they are much more comfortable due not only to their clear design, no wires or metal pieces, but also because of the computer generated alignment progression.

Here is how your Invisalign teeth straightening will progress:

• First, we will take you bite impressions of your teeth,
• Then, the impressions are laser scanned to generate a three dimensional image in the computer,
• Finally, a series of clear trays are created, each progressively moving your teeth towards the desired position.

Over the course of the Invisalign treatment, you will have between 12 and 30 different retainers made. Each is worn for around 2 weeks. The process in most cases is faster than braces with a time span of around 7 to 12 months, and you only need to visit the dentist every 2 to 3 months instead of every 3 to 4 weeks as required when wearing regular braces.

You will need to take the Invisalign trays off to eat; other than that, they stay on for 20 hours a day.
